After two years of cancellations for this bi-annual event, it is finally time for VW fans from all over Australia to congregate to the Aussie VW meetup – this one is not to be missed.

Started in 1984 by local enthusiasts and VW repair shop owners, Donna and Mark Pell, this year marks the 23rd VW Spectacular in 38 years. Hats off to Donna and her hard-working team of volunteers! Not only do they accommodate hundreds of VWs and their owners (more than 750 cars attended the 2018 event) but they also raise thousands of dollars for local charities.

The event goes for a full week from the 24th July – 1st August and promises to be plenty of fun with lap dashes on Raleigh Raceway, cruises through the week, musical nights, street parades, markets and so much more. Traction EV will be there with the blue NetGain HyPer 9 ’68 Beetle from Friday to Sunday – unfortunately Raleigh Raceway isn’t prepared for electric vehicles and that means that we won’t be allowed to race the electric Beetle with its brethren ☹

It is an understatement to say that we were disappointed to find out as we were really looking forward to zip around this fun looking track…but life goes on and we are still looking forward to chatting to people about EV’s, EV conversions and mingling with V-Dubbers from all around the country!
