1973 Volkswagen Tesla Kombi
This VW Kombi started its EV conversion from a pretty tired rolling shell requiring a major restoration. The undercarriage was in pretty good condition having been restored to a satisfactory level.
If we had to choose two words to describe this Kombi, they would be COOL and SMOOTH… The cabin noise while driving on the highway is really quiet. Tim, the owner, did a great job adding sound deadening prior to the new interior being fitted. The Tesla motor is such a pleasure to drive, its noise is present, but so subtle that you just feel whisped along by a gentle push of air.
The Tesla motor is direct drive to the axles, so no whiney transmission noise. With such a nice smooth ride and quiet motor with no transmission noise, it’s amazing to have air-conditioning and keep the windows rolled up while cruising the highway at 110km/h.
The 350+ km range means that charging and range anxiety are no longer on the back of your mind. DC Fast Charging allows recharging in 60mins.
